Best time to visit: November to February brings pleasant weather without oppressive heat. March to May is hot and dry. June to October is wet but the rain passes quickly, and fewer tourists are present.
Getting around: The BTS Skytrain (elevated) and MRT (underground) metro systems are efficient and cheap. Taxis are ubiquitous and inexpensive. Traffic is genuine chaos, making driving inadvisable. Walking between attractions is rarely practical given distances. Boats on khlong offer scenic transport and authentic glimpses of old Bangkok.
