Best time to visit: October to April offers cooler temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring temples and hiking. The Luang Prabang Film Festival occurs in November, drawing cinephiles from across the region.
Getting around: The old town is compact and best navigated on foot, with bicycle rentals available at virtually every guesthouse. Boat services run regularly along the Mekong to nearby villages and waterfalls. Tuk-tuks provide affordable transport for longer journeys, though bargaining is expected.
