Is Paris safe for solo female travellers?
Yes for the central arrondissements (1st–7th, Marais, Saint-Germain, Montmartre by day). Standard European city precautions apply: pickpocketing on metro lines 4 and 9, some catcalling in the outer 18th, 19th, and 20th at night. Late-night metro is generally safe; late-night RER less so.
Paris is a comfortable solo destination in central and near-central neighbourhoods. Public transport is safe until closing time in the 1st–11th. Watch for pickpocketing on metro lines 1, 4, and 9 and at Gare du Nord. RER B (airport line) attracts more theft than the metro. Cathedral queues and around the Trocadéro are pickpocket targets. Outer arrondissements (parts of 18th, 19th, 20th) get quiet and less pleasant at night; take a taxi from a rank or Uber if returning late.
