When is the best time to visit Thailand?
November to February — the cool dry season, ideal across Bangkok, the north, and both coasts. March to May is very hot; June to October is the southwest monsoon (rain in Phuket/Krabi, dry on Koh Samui/Koh Phangan). Songkran (mid-April) is a highlight but expect closures.
Thailand's peak season aligns with northern-hemisphere winter: November to February brings 25–30 °C days, low humidity, and dry weather across most of the country. Prices peak December to early January. March to May is scorching (35 °C+) — visit only the beaches. The Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi) gets heavy monsoon rain June to October; the Gulf coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao) stays drier and is the summer alternative. Songkran (Thai New Year, mid-April) turns cities into water fights and shuts many businesses for a week.
